BOOKS

Let me share some of the books that inspired and shaped me. The books that provided me with deeper insight, knowledge and filled my curiosity on the related subject. These are the books I still turn to and re-read certain pages when I need a reminder of who I am, why I am special and why I am doing what I am doing in the whirlwind of everything that others call a "life" in the city.

Let's get to the point 🤓

The Life You Were Born to Live by Dan Millman

As it says on the cover "A guide to finding your life purpose", the book helps to get to know your core self and why you are here on the planet: what are the challenges you need to face and learn from in order to find your true authentic self and serve the planet with your gifts. All of us without exception have a purpose in the world. It can be as simple as being a street swiper, a gardener, a mum (sorry! I know none of the responsibilities of these roles are actually simple...I am just trying to bring it in to comparison to other roles where a lot more time, effort, knowledge and sacrifice are needed to reach a goal) OR as important as a scientist, a doctor, a teacher OR as entertaining as a movie star, jazz singer or a professional clown. There is no better or worse. All important even if they don't sound BIG. As long as you are in alignment with what your are doing, which brings a heartfelt satisfaction and the feeling of success in your life and within your soul, you are doing an important job even if it's paid or not/ even if it is recognised by others or not/ even if it makes no sense to others. YOU need to be in alignment with your purpose, NOT others. Others have their purpose to find and be in alignment with. So go with yourself. Always. Not with others. :) Trust me, I've been there! 😉

Why do I like this book?

The book is based on numerology and your life purpose numbers are calculated from your birthday. Here is an online link where you can have a sneak peak of your numbers accompanied by a few lines regard your life purpose. www.peacefulwarrior.com

That's what you will see on the above link. I bring my numbers as example.

I like how the author gets to the point and clearly describes the characteristics of the individuals born with the relevant numbers. It doesn't tell you what you have to be or what you have to do, instead he offers the possibilities in what way you can benefit from your inborn talents and skills through the challenges you may face in life until you become whole within yourself. I also like the guidance provided in the book through which you can learn to get rid of bad habits (e.g. fears) and embrace the experience and the challenges you may face.

I like the structure of the book through which you get to find out about what can happen if you work your numbers on the positive or negative (a.k.a when you ignore your inner guidance). Furthermore you get a helpful idea on life-path issues such as health, relationships, talents, work and finances.

I share little bits through my personal numbers to give an appetite! I copy my amateur photos of the pages below instead of typing it all in. Hope you don't mind receiving the information this way! 🌷

I do recommend to read the front and back of the book too! Reading about the numbers individually as well (3 & 6 & 9 in my case) brings a clearer picture on your life purpose. I made that mistake of reading my main guidance pages (36/9) only for years (!!!) and just recently I have read the front of the book where the explanation on each individual numbers added deeper understanding to my experience.

The book is excellent to learn about how to approach, help or understand not just yourself but others too! Let that be your lover, family member, friend or colleague. I checked my twin's numbers too which hugely helped me to understand and support him. Interestingly he was open for me to share this information with him too. After I read the key lines to him, he said he knew most of this stuff about himself which I considered to be a good sign to be conscious about your good and bad habits at least. Controlling them, learning from them, growing with them can be the next step for his inner peace and acceptance which would come with practise. He needs to slow down and look into himself if he wants to embrace this growing experience.

If you are interested in numbers and numerology there are plenty of other sources (books and websites) available to help with guidance. This book is special to me as this was my first one and because a dear friend of mine introduced it to me. :)

If you want a quick look into numbers online I can recommend this website:

Enjoy discovering yourself!

Why do I like this book?

This book confirmed me what I felt, believed and experienced was true which is intuition, synchronicity, flashes of insights, psychic revelations, divine interventions lead us toward our life purpose. It also helped me to understand a deeper level of connection between all the things that have shaped me from family, school, childhood to work, friends, dreams and travelling. The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker

"In this empowering book, Gavin de Becker, the man Oprah Winfrey calls the US's leading expert on violent behaviour, shows you how to spot even subtle signs of danger - before it's too late. Shattering the myth that most violent acts are unpredictable, de Becker, whose clients include top Hollywood stars and government agencies, offers specific ways to protect yourself and those you love, including: how to act when approached by a stranger; when you should fear someone close to you; what to do if you are being stalked; how to uncover the source of anonymous threats or phone calls; the biggest mistake you can make with a threatening person; and more. Learn to spot the danger signals others miss. It might just save your life." ~ www.goodreads.com

Why do I like this book?

This is an engaging book with real life examples on humans' action and reaction for violent behaviour. The reason I liked it so much is because the author explains the elements all connected from psychology, upbringing, feelings, human rights, intuition, politics, media etc. that makes a violent person violent and a victim be a victim. I also like how much importance the author gives to intuition, the ability we all have within us to tell right from wrong with our senses, with his logic bringing heart and mind in balance when make a decision. By that I mean making a logical step based on your intuition. E.g. sensing that a certain individual's intention is not clear/ honest/ harmless and you have the choice to make that logical step to leave before the trouble happens. This book protects women and encourages them to listen more to their intuition (!!!) rather than what they think they are supposed to do in a situation due to their social conditioning. Very well put together! Helpful for everyone but women especially must read!

Intuition = the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning ~ wikipedia

Why do I like these books?

From their 18 books I have read 5 and put their new The Answer book on my list. I got triggered to read their books when I was struggling to understand my twin's behaviour. That time I was open to learn about men, something beyond that I had already figured through my personal experience and intuition, but most of all I wanted to know why they behave in certain ways toward women. I find these books very easy to read and understand even for me whose first language is not English. They're filled with humour, kindness and science, psychology, history behind both genders' behavioural patterns that helped me to understand, accept and embrace the differences between men & women.

I was excited to get into a relationship with my twin (haven't happened yet, haha!) after reading the first book so that I could experience what I read about men through him as he seemed to be the typical masculine character the authors describe. :) I couldn't wait to share the funny and interesting scientific bits with him too! But that time he just called everything "bullshit" he didn't want to hear or know about. So I save it for the future! He won't escape, haha!

These are books I would definitely re-read and recommend to my friends!

Never broken by Jewel

"New York Times best-selling poet and multiplatinum singer-songwriter Jewel explores her unconventional upbringing and extraordinary life in an inspirational memoir that covers her childhood, rise to fame, marriage, and motherhood. When Jewel's first album, Pieces of You, topped the charts in 1995, her emotional voice and vulnerable performance were groundbreaking. In the tradition of Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell (she has been compared to both), a singer-songwriter of her kind had not emerged in decades. Now, with over 30 million albums sold worldwide, Jewel tells the story of her life and the lessons learned from her experience and her music.

There is so much more to Jewel's story, one complicated by family and financial woes, by crippling fear and insecurity, by parents who forced a child to grow up far too quickly, and by the extraordinary circumstances in which she became a world-famous singer and songwriter. Here Jewel reflects on how she survived and how writing songs, poetry, and prose have saved her life many times over. She writes beautifully about the natural wonders of Alaska, about pain and childhood trauma, and about discovering her own identity years after the entire world had discovered the beauty of her songs." ~ www.goodreads.com

Why do I like this book?

As my life purpose numbers fall in the category of "Integrity and Wisdom" I am drawn to authentic people, truth tellers and their honest story.

Never broken is a truly inspiring, honest autobiography of the singer and her power of vulnerability that brought success in varied ways into her life. I could relate to many aspects of her sensitivity, wisdom and life experience which touched my soul deeply and sparked confirmation on my life path. ♡

I discovered Never broken in a Howard Stern interview on youtube. I ordered the book immediately and listened to the video many times as I found Jewel very inspiring in it. Sometimes I just put it on as a background voice while I was working at my computer.

Have a listen to Foolish games one of her most recognised songs

What is NLP?

NLP= Neuro-Linguistic Programming

The name that encompasses the three most influential components involved in producing human experience: neurology, language and programming. The neurological system regulates how our bodies function, language determines how we interface and communicate with other people and our programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create. Neuro-Linguistic Programming describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay affects our body and behavior (programming). ~www.nlpu.com

Why do I like this book?

I grabbed this book because I was curious how the author teaches the methods on re-programming your brain that I had done intuitively to myself many years ago without knowing what I was actually doing. I wanted to connect my personal experience with science.

NLP is the scientific approach, explaining with biology and psychology, how to change your life, get unstuck, move on, trust, get rid of your fears etc. Previously I mentioned books on divinatory arts (life purpose, numerology) which celebrates the soul, the gut feeling, synchronicity, intuition etc. which are softer versions than NLP, if I am allowed to say this, but they have a lot in common. Divinatory arts provide the soul approach whereas NLP provides the scientific approach to healing.

What do I mean by that?

Let me bring a relationship story from my NLP book to be the example:

This gentleman "kept falling in love with the same person over and over again, and the woman would run off with somebody else, hurt his feelings and then, 6 months later he would end up with her again. He was really tired of her abuse."

Divinatory arts, holistic treatments, naturopath would want to help this gentleman to find the root cause of the problem ("Face it in order to heal it.") that may lie in his childhood experience of seeing her mum running off with other men and as the child connects his parents to the feeling of love he grows up believing that this is love OR he grows up fearing that the same would happen to him and with the law of attraction he attracts what he fears (because he applies his focus on what he doesn't want: being cheated on by his girlfriend instead of what he wants: being in an honest, loving relationship).

NLP co-creator Richard Bandler says:

"Our ability to associate good feelings with things or bad feelings with things should be a conscious choice. When you redirect your own thoughts, when you decide what memories to associate with and what memories to disassociate with, when you manipulate your thoughts deliberately, it is called thinking. We are thinking beings when we think deliberately. When we let our thoughts just happen to us, we lose our personal freedom."

His method to treat this relationship problem:

He asked this gentleman to think of the most disgusting thing he had ever seen on Earth which was chopped liver "just the smell, the sight of it makes me want to puke". He had him look at a plate of chopped liver and smell it until he got that bad feeling. In the centre of that picture he had him open up a picture of his girlfriend's smiling face to the point that every time he thought about her, it turned into chopped liver.

Now you get the difference between the emotional approach and the mind manipulating approach, right?

My questions is can you heal trauma with NLP? Would it heal the old wounds let's say the ones you experienced as a child or just oppress them with re-programming the mind?

For example if this gentleman, I bring in the example, meet another girl which ends the same way of him feeling fooled yet unable to let go, is happening because the root cause of his problem was not dealt with. This above mentioned NLP method was a solution for quieting down the feeling that made him act the way he acted and taught him to attach new feelings through self-created thoughts to the woman in order to let go. So this gentleman has every chance to attract the same type of women and fall back to the same behaviour pattern again. He will have to go through with the mind-manipulating method again and again every time he falls for the "wrong" woman.

My question: Wouldn't it be more successful for him to learn about why he is attracted to the type of women he suffers disappointment from and learn to avoid them in the future?

I think this is something I am going through with... If I take my personal experience thinking of my birth experience as the trauma in my life that I consciously don't remember but my body and my soul do. So if I experience another trauma or meet somebody (in this case my twin) who caused the trauma to me, my body recognises and will react the same way as it did when it happened for the first time. I can manipulate my mind and shut my twin out of my life and run away from the feeling but that will not be a permanent solution.

Wouldn't it be better to understand your behaviour? Face it and rise above the damaging feeling with believing that "you're not gonna defeat me!" with that as well creating a lasting positive change in your life.

Other books on my list now are metaphysics related like Metaphysical Anatomy by Evette Rose which I may add to the post later. Until then have a nice day everyone! ♡
